I bring $cashUSD with me and exchange at airport - if you exchange in bangkok you must have post 2000 issued US year bills with no cuts, bends, or marks of any kind. When you exchange at airport may want to ask for coins for pay phone to call your friend for pickup or meeting place. Taxis cost more than 300 baht when you include toll fares, figure 500-600 bht

Original post is old.

No more Airport Express Bus from Suvarnabhumi.

There is rail service from the Suvarnabhumi Airport from 0600 to midnight. This Airport Rail Link connects with the Skytrain and with the subway in the city. Only 45 baht to use the City Line from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the Pratunam area of Bangkok.

Don Muang Airport handles most of the discount airlines now.

When you change currency over to Thai baht also get some small bills for paying taxi drivers. Most of the meter taxi rides to hotels in Bangkok from Suvarnabhumi will come to around 340 baht - 420 baht. This includes meter fare to your hotel, 50 baht surcharge and toll charges along the way. Only use the meter when using taxis from the airport and in the city. In the city also have coins too.
