Travel Forums General Talk Poll: Best and worst food that you've encountered?

What are the best and worst culinary delights that you've encountered while travelling? Extra points if you actually ate whatever was disgusting. ;)

For me:
Best - croissants and hot chocolate in France. I think I could live off this alone.
Worst - traditional British cuisine. Ate mostly foreign and modern cuisine in England. Traditional tea time was wonderful, though!

I know most of you will have far more exotic answers than mine...

A friend of mine from Malaysia convinced us to try chicken feet and dried fish (like dried prunes) from a jar!! Disgusting I was reaching for the puke bucket.

The most devine desert ive had, a double chocolate cake scoop revealed a yummy centered gooey choc sauce, YUM

It certainly made up for the disappointing main meal!!

I experienced the best and worst food ever in the space of about half hour. my first night in Bangkok I tried some local cuisine which was delightful until I bit into I dont know what and it litterally made me choke, splutter, gag and you get the picture.
A few beers later I returned to my guest house where the propriator kindly made me some sausage and mash, just the way your mum makes it, cheers Jon you were a life saver!

Lake District - England: Proper English dinner - Lamb
Sydney - Australia: Kangaroo with plum sauce
Milano - Italy: Stone oven home-cooked pizza
Jersey - UK: Prawn Kebabs in chile sauce
Adelaide - Australia: hot and sour soup.

humm... tough one (i like most food and will try everything once)

Brittany - France: Oysters
(but only because they are alive until they hit the stomach)

Food I choose not to eat:
Veal (because of the way they are kept when alive - just cruel)
Garlic Bread (cant stand the after taste)
and Chocolate in anything but a solid bar so no icecream, milkshakes, hot chocolate or mixed with nuts etc etc.. (why would you want to do this? Why why why????)

wow - not really fussy am I (!)

God i'm hungry :(

This is always a great topic to discuss!!! :)

Best: Litchfield, UK - The traditional English full-spread breakfast prepared for me every morning by my B&B keeper... even though I was the only guest!

Worst: Oh, come now, there's no "worst." Only ADVENTURES! :) I've done the chicken feet, the pig feet, intestines, sea slugs, whole foot-long fish fried WITH bones that you eat along with everything else, all chicken parts including part of the head... and where did I eat these things? China, naturally.

Oh yeah. I don't eat cicadas. No bugs, please.
