My friend and I are going around Spain in July (for 14 days). We are flying to Madrid and will spend there two days. After that we still don'n know in which way to go. But we want to see East and South beach. Couse we are students lots of things are too expensive. I wonder if hitchhiking is safe for two girls? I look on a web for hostels and they are very full till now. The problem is that we cannot reservate it now because we will plan ou trip day after day. So, is it realy hard to find cheap accomodation? Is it pssible to sleep on a beach if we don't find a hostel? If you have experiances with backpacking aroun Spain pleas answer me couse anythink will helps.
Finding accomodation in the east and south coast of Spain in summer is really hard.
Hitchhiking can be as safe as in everywhere and it is possible to sleep in the beach if you dare to. Some people spend the whole night partying and in the morning they go to beach, look for a place under trees, walls, etc. and lie down there to sleep while around them people is having sun baths. By the time the beach is full of people so it's quite safe but not very comfy to sleep there.
Look for campings or look for friends with house and car.
Keep on posting here your doubts about itinerary or accomodation and the spanish crew of the forum will try to help you.
Thanks for information! But how to know people from ther. We are students so we would like to meet others students. Are there students forums?
About camping: it came to my notice that camps are more expensive than hostels!
that what you say about campings being more expensive than hostels has an explanation: most of those campings are high class, lux, or whatever you want to say, where you even have gym or sauna free of charge.... but not all of them are that style.
Anyway, campings being "expensive" means, for example, 30 euros a day for 2 peeople, car and small tent 200 m from the beach in high season on east coast, while for 30 euros i think it´d be impossible to find a hostel in the same region.
But you better check the campings yourself for example here
Maybe i´m wrong but i think that Cadiz could be interesting for you as i´ve heard that a lot of people, like surfers and others, go free camping....
Although is almost sure that they will be fully packed look for your youth hostel and send them an email here all the public youth hostels in spain [/url]
Good luck, specially with temperatures
