Wow! Never done it before???? Boy are you brave! I have travelled alone but I still get a bit anxious just before I go anywhere (alone or not)... and I started traveling when I was only two and never stopped.

Wish I could go along but really just wanted to give you a big hurray. Would love to hear how it went for you. Was there many years ago... not alone... and it was lovely. Sorry that I don't know enough to give you any real advice.

DO take the river boats and buy your breakfast from the boat vendors. Great experience. One of the things I remember most is that the women were the most beautiful that I had ever seen... and I am a straight woman.

Traveling alone can be great in that you will meet people that you may never have met if you were with your own friends. You will probably come back a new woman! Have a blast

Hi Donn23, dont be afraid, I was in Thailand on my own when i went there 3 years ago and later took kids with me. I also was concerned a bit on my firt trip to Asia, but you dont be, Thai people are very open and kind, i cant say they are able to solve problems and can be very slow, but you just have to be relaxed and not demanding. There are so many things to see, every new step is fascinating.
I also agree that tasting food in strange places is interesting experience in Thailand. Try roti, its thai-indian type of pan cakes, they sell them in the streets, roti with bananas or chocolate are great. The price is couple of cents and it is like local drug, people like it and then miss it when they get back home. I wanted to find a receipe in internet and found out that people all over the world miss it when they get back home and there are forums about this meal:-) This was funny.
If you need advice on where to go in Thailand- contact me, i had seen some really nice places there.

Hi there,
I hadn't travelled aloned before, but here I am, travelling Thailand on my own!!! It's ok here, I've never felt unsafe once, feel safer here than in London that's for sure! I'm going to Malaysia tomorrow for 2 weeks, then flying back into Bangkok(around 19th July) to spend a further 2-3 weeks in surrounding areas before heading home to the UK on the 10th August let me know your plans and where your gonna be and we could poss arrange to meet. Take care and don't worry about a thing!
