I'm from australia and am currently lining up a job at Breck to ski instructor or doing lift operations. problem is i need to be back in australia by end of feb, if i take out a H2-b visa can i tell the resort that i'm wroking to april and then when feb comes along do u think if i spoke to them i could leave in feb as planned?
I feel bad about this prospect but can't seem to line up a jon for just early decemeber 2006 to end of feb2007

I'd say you'd be better off doing that than trying to be up front about it, as they may not hire you then. What's the worst that can happen? I'd recommend that you come over, have a good time until February and then quit your job when you need to go back. Believe me, ski town employers are used to much worse. Unless you're planning on becoming a professional ski instructor for life, you probably won't be using them as a reference for future job interviews.
Just my (perhaps bad) take on the situation.
So there are no "rules" as such that i'll be breaking if i do this?
Also it won't look dodgy if i supposed to be staying to april but my flight is booked for end of feb, they wouldn't check up on that sort of suff?!?
Let me correct myself, I'm not sure how all of that will play out with your visa, but from a job standpoint I don't think you need to worry about it. Unless of course, they ask you to provide things like your plane ticket info, etc. in advance, which I can't imagine they would. Because you're coming in from overseas, the process may be different, but if it were me, I wouldn't feel too bad about leaving early, it happens all the time. You could always say that you had to go back for personal/family reasons, and I'm sure they'd understand. I know this sounds dodgy, but I still would not be up front about only being there for two months while applying.
