Hi, looking to do a year or 2 away starting in October or November 2006. The general plan is to start off in Thailand (have travelled there for 1 month before), and the surrounding countries for 4-6 months (maybe more, taking it easy, no rush) before heading over to Oz for 6-12 months (have been there twice before), maybe New Zealand too. Nothing set in stone yet but definately up for it. Other destinations possible, open to suggestions. Anyone fancy it? Im 29, male and from England.
I'm looking to fly into Kuala Lumpur on Sept. 30 and out of Bangkok around November 12, so I'll be kicking around that neighborhood for about 6 weeks. From KL, I'm going to head directly over to Malaysian Borneo for roughly 2-3 weeks (tentatively looking at Mulu National Park, Kelabit Highlands/Bario, and climbing Mt. Kinabalu); so drop me a line if you'd have any interest in any of that. From what I understand, most of these places require signing on a guide, and that the more people you can put together the cheaper it is (price is per guide; not person).
Anyway, I'll also be heading over to Thailand/Laos/etc from Borneo, but have to admit, I'm not quite there yet as to figuring out where I'm going to focus with only 3-4 weeks.
Just thought I'd throw Borneo out there, send me a pm if you're interested. If not, enjoy your travels!
Hello mate, i'll be around SEA during that time and also plan to go to oz and nz in early february 07. Send me a message when you arrive and have firmer plans. Maybe we can hook up if our paths cross. Give me a shout when you hit SEA. Have a safe flight and get saving that money! Pete
Hey john, just read your note and profile. Hook me up when you arrive and i'll see where i'm at. Would like to see Myannmar and up for going off the beaten path. I have not used a travel guide yet in these 6 weeks but have travelled a well worn path!! A fresh trail would be good. I'll be ready to meet up early november when i've spent more time around china and have made it back from tibet also. Safe travels, pete
I'm spending a year in SEA and surrounding areas. I don't have a set itinerary other than to arrive in Bankok in March and go from there. If we happen to be in the same place at the same time I'd be happy to meet up. If you'd like, feel free to message and keep in touch and we can see how things develop.
