Apoligize if I posted this message on the wrong forum before....

I second that..

I second that, as you will have to ship the station wagon from Panama to Colombia or Ecuador by container and then fly over to get your vehicle out of customs, all which will take about 10 days or so. Returning same thing to Panama..and what about spare parts? Are parts available for your vehicle in Mexico, Central and South America in case of mechanical failure...My differental once pooped out in the mountains of Guatemala..luckily I had a mechanic with a grua (tow truck) an hour away, luckily a friend of mine from Guatemala City saw me on the highway and drove me to a public phone to advise teh mechanic..at any rate the car was a "rodado" made for the US where I had bought it and it took my mechanic several days to locate another differental in Guatemala City, these things happen on the road and if in a remote area with no friends, far from a city or large town, and unable to sell or even give away the car until it is taken out of your passport, what do you do? As well where you are going would recommend 4 wheel Drive, nothing like spending the night in a vehicle in a strange place, happened to me and is not conducive to sleeping well. If you require the name of a good freight forwarder in Panama message me. We have a driving to Panama user group.

Hi Tom...
So,
it´s 2008, almost 09 now...
Did you go through with this road trip afterall?
Do you have any information, tips, success/failure stories you´d like to share?
I´m sure I´m not alone when I say I´d like to hear anything you may have to share.

Thanks.
Alex.

Never went through with the trip. Another opportunity to travel elsewhere changed my plans. Please don't message me about Brazil, I don't know anything about what it's like driving there.
Regards, Tom
