We are deciding whether to go to Stradbroke Island next week. Has anyone been there? Recommend things to see and do, place to stay? It seems accommodation is expensive, probably consider going elsewhere!!
Cheers, L:)

Let's balance things up a bit,

North Straddy is a grand wee island if you're looking for a bit of relaxation. Although in saying that it's got some great 4x4 tracks and if you're up for a bit of surfing then it's all good. Bit of a wildlife bonanza aswell as we saw whales, HUGE turtles and some impressive stingrays, all whilst on terra firma! It's not overly expensive, just small town prices. If you're up for camping then there are some amazing campsites next to the beaches. But watch out when you're swimming as a wifie was attacked at Amity point by some sharks a few months ago (never be the furthest one out :) )

Overall a good spot in my opinion.

Cheers to all for the suggestions.

Stuart, your descriptions has made me more interested in visiting this place except for the shark attack incident!!!
And im assuming a wifie, is wife....?

Yeah sorry, a wifie is village talk around here (or maybe it's just me) for a woman. I'd imagine it originated from wife though. But yeah, nasty attack, 3 bull sharks on one woman at amity point. However, there's a relatively shallow gorge near main point, or whatever it's called (north east of the island), that is really good for body surfing! I sank like an anvil though as Scots don't float...
