Hi there.

I am off to SA at the start of August and want to begin my trip with some Spanish lessons and possibly skiing. Has anyone booked some combined courses and have any comments? Or can anyone advise where I would be best to go for both? I am flying into Santiago so was thinking there or somewhere close would be best. My Spanish is very limited, so I need to kick it off asap. But I have heard Santiago isn't the greatest place to hang around for a few weeks though so my other thought is Mendoza in Argentina.

Please let me know your thoughts for where best to ski/learn spanish or preferably both!

Thanks

There's loads of threads already concerning these two issues; consult them for details. Argentina and Chile both aren't the best places to learn spanish, because of the funny accents in both dialects; but there are a few decent schools in Mendoza. Skiing is best in Las Leñas.

In Chile, specially in Santiago, you have lots of alternatives to study spanish, like ecela, and from the city you´re about hour and a half from the main sky resorts, that allows you to go for the day, in order to save your money cause it´s hard to find cheap accomodation up there.
