i was very stupid and didn't relise that you had to book SOOOO far in advance to see the last supper in milan.
now my mother and i are visiting this bloody place for the purpose of seeing this painting and we cant book to see it
SURELY there must be some other way to get tickets?
does anyone have any ideas?
or know of travel agencies/hotels which pre-book the tickets?
im desperate and very very sad
Checked the offical site of the church itself for you; first available date is august 16th, and that's only one ticket. Sorry...
There is probably also a possibility to wait in line for no-show tickets; I recommend that you try that. And there's also a pretty good website featuring detailed pictures of the painting :-)

With respects to no show tickets unfortunately I don't believe you will be allowed in even if people don't turn up. I've not read this anywhere so you can take this with a pinch of salt, but my parents went to see the Last Supper last year (they booked tickets) and said that even though there were not the full 25 people there when they entered - every 15 minutes they let 25 people enter - they still did not let anyone who had turned up without a reservation in to see the painting. You could phone on the morning and ask if there were any spaces that had opened up but again I don't think this is likely to work as most people who reserve tickets don't live in Milan, so when they don't show up they more than likely won't have notified the Church in advance.
As a last resort you could go to the Tourist Office in Milan and try to book one of the tours of the city which includes the Last Supper. I'm not sure if that will work or what the situation is with that but I just browsed the internet and it seems a couple of people have had success using that method.
