is it worth going to Hong Kong for a few days from Hanoi in north Vietnam? how long does it take to get there on train and how much would it cost including visa etc. My friend says he wants to go while we are up there but im just wondering is it worth going for a bit taking everything into consideration.
thanks boys and girls!
Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities in the world and so naturally I'm going to say it's worth it. however, if you are going by train from Hanoi all the way to Hong Kong, going through the hassles of getting and paying for a Chinese visa, then it seems a little silly just for a couple days. I would say if all you want to see is HK then maybe you can look into flying. I have no idea what a flight might cost, but if you take into consideratino the visa and train ticket that you would otherwise have paid for, it may not be much more expensive. You probably don't need to pay for a visa for HK so you'll save money by not going via China.
However, a better idea in my books is to give yourself enough time to see some of CHina between vietnam and HK. If nothing else, stop in yangshuo near Guilin on the way. Then your trip will definetly be worth it.
thanks very much. some useful points there. we have 3 months to cover SE Asia so its possible we may be able to spare a week or so for the extra trip through China. how much is a visa for china by the way? UK price that is.
Yes, should travel from Vietnam to China, then Hongkong. can travel to China by train, or bus.
From About Chinese visa, prices depends your nationality. Normal price, arround 40 -45 USD. (not for USA)
yeah i dont think its gonna be a problem travelling from Hanoi to Hong Kong, im a UK citezen by the way if that matters about the price of a visa. wouldent mind stopping etc in china on the way to hong kong. might aswell make the most of the visa. about a 1 week round trip?
