Jack Johnson would have to be on there for me, perhaps because I traveled for a year with only 3 CDs (MP3s, what are those?); one of which was Jack Johnson. I'd probably have to go with F-Stop Blues, I just love that song for some reason.

hands down "send me on my way" by rusted root that song makes me wnat to walk around the world

That was the first song I thought of and then opted for Stan Getz. A very good choice!

I like Dean Martin - "Little Ole Wine Drinker Me"
It's moody, laid back and smooth I think ideal for slow relaxed travelling.

....Never Going Back Again by Fleetwood Mac....

I have a Fleetwood Mac video and they interview Lindsey Buckingham, and he picks up a guitar and starts singing 'Never Going Back Again' - just his voice and the guitar - no other instruments. He sings it in such a sad, melancholic way, almost whispering some of the words. Pure class.

definately 'holy grail' by hunters and collectors. One of those all time great, let your hair down and embrace the world songs. Perfect for when you need a little pick-me-up.

Low Rider by War
Makes me just want to hop in the car and take a very long road trip.

Guess Who's Coming To Dinner (Natty Dreadlocks) by Black Uhuru
Kept me "calm" (ha, ha) while driving through Jamaica's Blue Mountains.

There are just so many!

I'm trying to think of that song on the ad thats all the coloured balls bouncing down the street in San Francisco - thats a brilliant song but I can never remember the artist of the title. But failing that I am really really loving the yeah yeah yeah song by the flaming lips - its just so funky!

Hmm this is an interesting question. I'd have to say I'm totally addicted to Phish when I'm out n' about. I'd also include some classic FAT releases like White Trash, 2 Heebs, & a Bean (NOFX) & Hoss (Lagwagon), and maybe a dash of 70's music - Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel, Led Zep, Pink Floyd. I guess I can connect these with the whole "roaming" feel. Anyway, I'll usually mix this with the local music you happen to be around and enjoy!

Whoops, I totally read the directions and I obviously didn't pay attention. Here's my pick:

"Run Like An Antelope" Live: Rosemont, ILL 10/31/1995, Phish.

I chose this because this song jams. I've developed this habit of playing this song as I arrive at the next destination just because it's 12 minutes of buildup and groove. The words are scarce, which I think is great as the song seems to become the actual soundtrack to whatever I'm doing.

Laterade!

"Another Travelin' Song" by Bright Eyes. Change those strings, cut loose, and roll out! Or, for those long (Trans-Siberian) train rides: "Different Names for the Same Thing" by Death Cab for Cutie.
