Lookin for some advice on where to stay on my trip up Japan. Im starting in OKinawa and have no idea where to start with accom. I am there for 4 days and 3 nights - 1 night i have booked in a hotel as part of my package, but im not sure about the other 2 nights. would it be worth staying up nearer Nago city, or okinawa city, or best to stay put in Naha city? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, do you think i need to hire a car, or will there be plenty to do in and around naha?

Thanks

Personally, I think if you want to see the best of Okinawa you should go to the outlying islands... but then if you're strapped for cash this might now be such a good option. 4 days in Naha might get a bit boring... unless you stay there and take a day trip somewhere. For accomodation in other areas you could check out hostel world if you want cheap places.

What kind of prices we talking to get out to places? Im not exactly strapped for cash, but at the same time, obviously not looking to spend a fortune. I really want to make the most of my trip, so if i have to spend some money to do so, so be it.

From what I remember, a one way ferry trip to the closest island is about 8000... I think it might be cheaper to take a plane, which is what mose Japanese do.
