Tips needed for Aletsch/Valais in Switzerland

Hi,

I'm planning a trip in the Valais region of Switzerland. I am not very familiar with that region, so really need some tips. I want to make an easy, but nice, trip (no waking up early .. rush etc.) .. 2-3 days in Valais and than offf to Milan for couple of days. Got some questions in that respect ..
1. How easy is it to reach Riederalp/Bettmeralp and than to Aletsch, starting from Morel ? Is it easily doable in a day ?? Is Morel good for making a base .. so that visiting nearby places (Gorge of Massa ) can be done .. one site per day ??
I want to avoid expensive hotels of Riederalp/Bettmeralp .. so any suggestions .. so that I can also visit Aletsch etc .. Intention is to spend 3 days there and than off to Milan.

Any experiences/infor is welcome.
