Hi im travelling to New Zealand in March for 6 months alone and was just wondering which is best to meet other fellow travellers and which is best to see all the sights, should i either go with a tour company like kiwi or just sort out my own travel arrangements when i get there. Any advice about anything to with New Zealand would be brill.

Hi,

I have recently travelled around NZ alone and I went with Stray bus. They were excellent and it was a great way to meet loads of people; most people on the bus were travelling alone too. I chose Stray as they go off the beaten track more than magic and kiwi exp. I 'm sure you'll have a fantastic time - I ended up spending 15 months in NZ! You can send me a personal message if you would like some more info and advice.

Hope this helps.:)

I forgot to mention - they have offices in Auckland and Christchurch so you can book when you get there, or book online before you go. www.straytravel.com.

I travelled round NZ alone and went on one of the Kiwi Ex tours which was fantastic - and not as "18-30" shagfest as some of the other posts may make out! I found that everyone in NZ was friendly, approachable and keen to help you out so even if you do it completely alone by hopping on/off national buses you'll be fine. Enjoy the adventure!
