Im looking at travelling to India next March and would be grateful for some assistance.
Going to fly to Mumbai then travel down to Bangalore, hop over to Goa then round to Madras up to Calcutta check out the Ganges then off to Thailand.
How long would this take me, Ive allowed about 18 days for the India trip..is that enough time for the areas mentioned?
Any info would be appreciated.
Welcome to India.
After landing at Mumbai, go to Goa. Stay there for 3-4 days. Take a flight to Bangalore and visit Mysore Palace and other places in Mysore. Also visit some places like Lalbagh in Bangalore. From there, go to Madras (Chennai). After taking a Full day city tour of Madras, if you want, can go either to Pondicherry or can visit the untouched beaches of Andaman Islands (which was affected during Tsunami). If you are visiting Pondicherry, come back to Madras to take the flight for Kolkata and if you are going to Andamans, can take an onward flight for Kolkata from Port Blair. In Kolkata, do visit Shantiniketan of Guru Ravindranath Tagore.
This you can cover during 15-20 days confortably. If you need any hotel booking assistance or any domestic train / air ticket booking, I can help you.
I hope the above given info is sufficient. If you need any help, just mail me on this or on my hotmail account on my full name which is given below.
Thanks & Best Regards,
I think this plan is just about crazy. There's no way you can see all that in 18 days. In fact I wouldn't attempt that itinerary with less than 2 months.
A better idea is to stick to one area and actually see it. Since you are off to Thailand next, i would skip Goa all together. It's just beaches and there's nothing that you won't see in Thailand. Instead, spend your time in Kerela and Karnataka. In my opinion, Madras is the most uninteresting city in India and so for a first time trip, you're best not to go all the way to see it unless you have the time time to see some other towns in Tamil like Pondicherry, Mammallapuram, or Madurai. Aternatively, you could head North and see the towns in Rajasthan or Uttar Pradesh and to Calcutta. ut I wouldn't say there is much point in doing both in 18 days.
Welcome to INDIA
The time that you have assigned for the trip is more than enough.YOU will be able to finish in less than 2 weeks but i seriously suggest you to change the itenary as you have chosen some disinteresting places to travel to.18 days is quite a handfull of time and you can travel to some amazing places. There is nothing interesting in bombay, and calcutta.if you land in bombay you can visit goa, parts of tamil nadu(ooty, madurai, pondichery, rameswaram)and kerala(munnar, periyar wildlife sanctuary, kovalam). This can be covered in 18 days.
