We are arriving into India in 6 weeks and are thinking about trying to get over to Sri Lanka as well. We have no idea how you get there from the mainland and were wondering if anyone has any advice. We would ideally like to get a ferry....?
Also interested in cheap flights....
Thanks in advance!
I had a look into this when I was in Sri Lanka at the beginning of the eyar and there is no ferry between Sri Lanka and India. You will have to get a flight but I can't give you any advice on airlines, prices, etc...
There is no ferry to SriLanka from India.
Only means of transport is by flights.
There are no budget airlines.
If you wish to keep the ticket cost low, then you should take aflight either from CHENNAI, or Tiruchy or Trivandrum.
Try srilankan airlines and Indian airlines and check the lowest fares. These two airlines have frequent flights from India.
You have to go Srilanka by flight, and Srilankan airlines is the cheapest one in this sector as far as i know.
try the web sites.
There used to be a ferry between Rameshwaram in India and Talaimannar in Sri Lanka but I think it was stopped during the Tamil insurgency. I do not know whether it has been reinstated. You could even swim if so inclined - there is an annual race which you could take part in!!
