Does anyone know how much this is? Also, I've heard rumour that there is a charge to enter the country at an airport too. Has anyone heard of similar?

Well, there shouldn't be any charge on arrival just as long as your visa is ok.

The departure tax:

"Vietnam: International departure tax from Ho Chi Minh is $15. International departure tax from Hanoi is $14. The tax can be paid upon departure either in Vietnam Dollars (based on the bank selling rate) or USD after the check-in but before proceeding to the passport control gate. The TAX is non-refundable and is valid on the date of issue only."

You can also ask your travel agent to check an up-to-date information about departure tax..

I arrived in HaNoi this Jan. and there is no tax on arrival. You do need to have your visa before you arrive, unless you have arranged a 'visa on arrival' through a travel agent. Have a great trip and PM me if you have VN questions.
