Hey, im gonna be going to Sydney a few weeks before xmas and then stay over there until after the new year. i got two questions that i hope people can help with:
1. a lot of accommodation is already booked up - i.e. hostels and hotels. so my plan is to rent an apartment or share one - is there a load available around xmas / new year and will it be pretty much easy to get one from say end november / start december??
2. where is the best place to be on new years eve in sydney?? is it the beach? round by the opera house? and what is THE best bar where i can get THE drunkest?
cheers for any suggestions!
You shouldn't really have too many probs finding a place around that time, especially if you are looking to rent an apartment for a few weeks. We got to Sydney on December 6th and found an apartment for 5 weeks within a couple of days.
For NYE we went to Mrs Macquaries point (near circular quay and great views across the harbour). Had an amazing time, if you don't mind sitting out in the sun all day and queing for you beer!!
Ive got a quick question - can you drink open air? If so is it ok to bring your own booze? Are there toliets? (as long as they start off clean l dont mind - the more booze l take l wont care - l carry loo roll at all times)
You can drink in open air but you can't take your own booze, your searched on the way in, but I'm sure (like anything) that there would be ways round it.
The toilets are ok but did get a bit "swamped", but like you said after a few beers who cares?! Taking your own toilet roll is a great idea, baby wipes are also vv handy!
Check out this web site :
There's also a section for backpackers etc.
The main thing is you can go cheap (Go on the North Side and buy your own beer) or you can go with the crowds... means getting there by lunchtime and sitting there all day to keep your spot, buying your own booze and getting sun burnt (it's the height of summer!)
