I am going to the Philippines solo in a couple weeks and looking for advice.
Learned lots of info already from the existing posts, but you can't know too much...
Hope to visit some remote spots and spend a lot of time on the beaches, but also have some nightlife as well...
Hoping to hit Malapascua, Palawan/El Nido, Benguet area, and perhaps Boracay...
Anyone have any suggestions? Add/subtract from this list?
Also, anyone know about the tree house accomodation? I saw some pictures on a previous thread, but no location name was given...
I wouldnt change anything in your travel plans. Seems that you have done your homework in researching.
Malapascua is a remote place off the City of Cebu. I doubt if there is nightlife down there. But surely there is night gigs in Cebu City. You can check out Waterfront Hotel Casino and the Ayala Center hang out place.
Palawan/El Nido, I think is the best tourist destination, the seascape is lovely and the people are nice. You won't have trouble in communicating as most of them understands and speak English. I don't remember having much nightlife there. Unless you will be staying in fancy resorts which usually hosts night happenings. El Nido, though a tourist destination is still a rustic town at the northern part of Palawan. From Manila, you might want to catch a plane to Puerto Princesa, Palawan then explore the sights there, like the Underground River, Honda Bay, etc. then you can ride the bus or jeepney ride to El Nido. The ride is 10-12 hours, it is dirty, and rough but the view is fantastic. I would not trade it for any luxury ride. Puerto Princesa, has some bars and restaurants, mostly karaokes, etc.
Benguet you might want to check out the different mountain ranges. If you want to go mountaing climbing, you might want to be in shape for that. Let me look up the website of the person who arranges such tours.Private message me if you are interested.
Boracay, well so much have been said about Boracay. It's beach and parties rolled into one.
You might want to stay in Manila for a few nights to check out night life here.
When do you plan to have your vacation? July-September are rainy season. Might not be a good idea to go mountain climbing.
I am not familiar with tree house accommodation. If you do find out, may I ask a favor, can you forward to me the information you came up, so that I can share them with other who seeks help.
