I'm going to Londen in on the 20th of May. I'll take the ferry in Calais to Dover (I'll go with my car on the ferry). I'm staying at the Dover Castle Hostel in London.
My problem is how to go from Dover to London by car. Do you think it's possible to drive to London, and let my car outside the center for 4 day close to a subway station? Then we can take the train and go to the hostel and come back to my car a few days later...
Or would it be better to leave my car in Dover and take the train there to London?
I wouldn't evern bother staying in Dover. If it was me I'd save money and drive into London as soon as I got off the ferry (see..... http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/inc/planner_places_redirect.jsp) for directions.
As for parking, it can be pricy so watch out. I do know of a couple of cheeky places to park in the westend, but that would be telling
Yes, I wouldn't be staying in Dover. I just wanted to know where I could leave my car near to London, somewhere close to a subway maybe...
Sorry tingo,. but i still can't understand why your even taking your car onto the ferry?? Why don't you just leave it at Calais
From Dover your coming from the SE into London which isn't an area with many tube lines. Your possibly better off picking a surface rail station (lots and lots of stations) and leaving it there unless you really want to drive right into the centre. Not sure where i would recommend though.
If you really want to be by a tube line (and one that will get you direct to central London), you probably want to try and leave you car somewhere around Clapham Common, but...
Easy question, it's much cheaper if I go by car I can take as many people as I want for the same price in my car
Gelli: yes, you are right! maybe it's better to take a train from a city close to London!
