I was born in Tassie and sore on the news the other day in a north American travel mag it was ranked in the top 10 island in the world, even above great barrier reef islands

what do other people think about this?

I think it's a load of rubbish.

Tasmania is larger than many countries, and can't really be compared to your typcial "island".

james my friend... its about whats on the island, just because tasmania is not your typical island doesnt change the pristine beauty of the water or the natural appeal of the landscapes

Then my vote goes for mainland Australia.

Stick Asia in afterwards - surely a continent is really only a really big island anyway!!

Well if that's the case, my vote goes for the Americas

common sense would suggest they're not looking at whole countries as one whole country would be to spread out to make 1 good holiday destination. And yes i would vote for mainland Australia over Tasmania aswel, who in their right mind wouldnt (apart from the north americans obviously)

obviously the island should be a size that has good variation but still isnt so large that it is costly and painful to get to different sites in.

Suggesting whole continets is just blowing the whole thing out of context.
