Oz travel insurance

anyone know any good/cheap/realiable insurance companies as im travelling/working in Oz pretty soon. Want basic cover but advice very welcome!! cheers

Boots is quite cheap i think.

Best option as far as I'm concerned is World Nomads. Slightly more expensive than the 'boots' one, which is the same one you can buy here as well ( www.travellerspoint.com/travel-insurance-online.cfm ), but is slightly more complete coverage. Just be sure not to take anything worth more than $250 - because that wouldn't be covered. Everything is dealt with online by them: www.worldnomads.com.au

Just make sure it covers you for work accidents!!! The cheaper insurances often don't... and it can make a big difference needless to say. On the other hand, depending where you are from, you might be able to get medicare coverage in Australia if your country has signed the reciprocal benefits deal. Check out www.hic.gov.au for more info on that. Not quite sure if that covers accidents during work though.... so check well!
