Hello all,

I'm taking a trip to the USA for around 15 days, I'm going to get a NE rail pass to last me around 15 days, with stops most likely in New York, Boston, DC, Orlando (if that is covered) and possibly Montreal.

I'm going to book a place in New York for the beginning and end of my trip but I was thinking about just winging it the rest of the way.

Is this a stupid thing to do? I've been inter-railing in Europe before and this method worked fine but I'm wondering if the USA will be any different.

I'm looking to save as much as possible, so is finding things like motels etc easy? I basically just need a bed and somewhere to shower.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Hi Pedro, and welcome to TP.

The answer to your question - it depends on the time of year. When do you expect to go travelling?

Hello!

I'm planning on the 1st of August until the 16th, or thereabouts.
