I am thinking of travelling up the east coast next year (2007) between Jun-Sep going from Sydney to Cairns on either the oz experience or greyhound.

can anyone tell me what the weather/climate is like at that time of year ?

Thanks

at that time in oz it will be winter...but...syndney will be typical cold & wet etc, cos winter starts round june..but i have been there at that time and you can tolerate it..as you get further north it will get warmer...im from cairns and right now the wet season is about to finish and even though it is stil a bit wet and cold (ie. 17degrees C at night and about 27 degrees during the day) by sept it will be beautiful sunny days & warmer nights...i think u will get better weather as u head north towards the tropics...so if i were you i'd spend more time in the norther parts of oz rather than sydney....

G'day Chris,
I think you'll find Sydney's winter pretty pleasant - perhaps like a warm Scottish summer - typically cool to warm (5-18C) and dry - although we've just had a particularly wet and cold June/July. August is typically pretty windy and "cool".

As you head north out of Sydney and out of winter it'll get warmer - as earlier post noted. I dont think you'll be needing too many extra layers of clothing in North Queensland.

cheers,
Rosco.
