I was just about to post a reply in the thread about the Canadians disliking to be thought of as part of Canada when I started to get a bit off topic by talking about traditional 'hate'.
I think nearly all countries have another country that they dislike for historical reasons, very much like the old 'Your grandfather stole our grandfather's mule and that's why we have this feud now.'
Swiss people get very upset when you call them German, we even claim that our language is a separate language to Standard German and not a dialect (but it actually is a dialect, as a matter of fact, although very strong)
I won't go into too much details trying to analyse the reasons, but I know that there are many other countries out there that have similar resentments towards other countries for historical reasons.

Examples that I know of:
The Irish towards the British
The French towards the British
The Koreans towards the Japanese
The Mongolians towards the Chinese

I wonder what other countries there are with the same thing.

It will be an endless list if you want to write down all the hatread in the world. Especially because they work both ways.

Quebecers vs Canada - a hugely misunderstood and frustrating relationship. Both ways.

I think we can blame the Brits for that one, too...;)

So what in fact we are saying is that Britain is at the root of all the world's problems? Am l right? Now can l clarify - is it Britain or England we are blaming?;););)
