I would like to spend New Years in Italy, but because of work, I think I'll be staying here in DC.

I'm going to be in Austria - probably Salzburg. Melbourne is a great city for new year's - fireworks, alcohol and lots of hot guys ;). Really looking forward to New Year's this year as my birthday is New Year's Day and i will finally be in my twenties!

Uhm...it's JULY Why are you already thinking about NYE But anyway, here it goes:

Ever since I lived in St Petersburg, Russia, for a couple of months, I think about spending NYE there once... It's a beautiful city, and I heard good things about the celebration there. The only thing keeping me from doing it is the temperature: it can be freakkin' minus 35 celcius during that night!!! Not even a bottle of the best Russian wodka can keep you alive then, let alone champagne...

I'd love to go to a WARM city for a change, as I've always been in the Netherlands with NYE. Great party, lots of friends, big fire on th square in front of my house and of course tons of champi, fireworks and typical Dutch NYE treats called 'oliebollen' (fried doughballs with raisins, eat them with powdery sugar).

Talking about that, add to this thread:
What will you eat with NYE? What is your country's typical midnight snack for december 31st?? (or that of the country where you'll spend that night)?
;)

I've always wanted to go to the street party in Edinburgh - it's shocking that I've never made it.

Was in the pub with mates last year here in Glasgow - boring! :(

I've spent NYE at Prague, Astronomical Clock, and Paris, Champs Elysees (terrific, plenty of people but no clock and no gongs!).
This year I will be at London, so Trafalgar Square will be my destination although I've read some posts before there're many places to celebrate NYE at London!
