I'm Sascha, 33 years old male, living in Stuttgart/Germany. I came here through another travel community named trivago, where travellerspoint was mentioned somewhere. I thought travellerspoint could be another nice place to share my travel experience which include Japan, Lebanon, UK and of course Germany. I like the layout and the easy user interface, still need some time to get the hang of everything though.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I you have questions about the destinations I have travelled let me know.

Sascha

[ Edit: Sorry, no promotions please... ]

Hi Sascha,

welcome to TP. You've come to right place to share travel experience and get information.
Incidentally, have you signed up as Travel Helper yet? That way you'll get notification if somebody is looking for information in any country you signed up as Travel Helper.

Enjoy.

Phil.

No thanks, not interested anymore. Found this platform really useful and nice, but censorship is overdoing it a bit here. Auf Wiedersehen.

Hi Sascha!

Welcome to TP!!

I'm sorry to hear you feel that way so soon after joining! May I ask why you feel TP is too censored?

Here's hoping you stick around a bit longer and get to know us! ;)

I came here through another travel portal where TP was linked and I quoted this website when I wrote this self introduction. Then my post got marked as spam and then edited with the comment "no promos please".

I find this behaviour rather offensive. Being an active member on many platforms I'm very aware of spam issues and I never have been accused of spamming.

This made me really upset and when I come across the place where TP was linked from on the other website (which name I'm not even allowed to tell), I will let this link be removed.

Hi Sascha,

Welcome to Travellerspoint!

We have seen many new members joining for the sake of promoting their websites, whether directly, or indirectly with some kind of made-up stories. And I'm not saying yours is. Promoting other site for the sake of promotion and not helping others is against the forum rules. FYI, moderators usually practise extra pre-caution on new members who post website addresses.

My guess is, the member (a Respected Member or Travel Guru) who flagged your post as spam must have thought your post as just another promotion as it is your first post and it also contained a referral link to another website. The moderator who reviewed your post acted on his/her discretion according the forum rules. I believe the moderator who edited your post must have suspected that it could be another promotional post. Hence only the link was removed but your post was not deleted just in case this is a genuine one.

I hope you'll enjoy this forum despite of what had happened to your first post. It's just a pre-caution on our side. We hope you understand.

Cheers,
Hien

I respect the rules of this forum, although I do not regard the sheer mentioning of a website as promoting it. However, I let the link to Travellerspoint on (censored) be removed. I hope you understand. It's just a pre-caution.

Do look carefully at your post above. The name of the site was never removed. It was only the link to the site that was removed. Mentioning of the site name was not disallowed, only the link was.

No need to get upset, the link through which I came here has been removed from the travel related website which I'm not even allowed to link
