I'm looking to buy a new digi cam for my next travels and the one I have at the moment is actually worse than the one of my mobile phone, which is a little pathetic! I want something that takes decent shots in the dark and at distance, has a respectable number of megapixels and can take videos (preferably with sound). Any ideas?

Edit: Forgot to say that I'm looking to spend approx £200. The cameras I've been looking at so far are the Konica Minolta DiMAGE X1 and Sony Cyber Shot DSC T9. Thanks guys!

YOu may want to see if the Fuji F30 is suitable for your needs. I am not sure how much it is retailing, but it is a good camera that performs well in low light condition.

I would go for a Pentax Optio - check out Dell UK's website.

PS If the directors of Dell or Pentax read this thread, I would be only too happy to accept a free holiday or luggage set or something.

Hi :) i would love a pentax (if i could afford one !) but i spent along time choosing a new camera (only had a practika SLR before digital crept up on me) i chose a Canon Powershot A400 and was dead impressed with it !:)...but i think camera's are like shoes you find the one you like the look of,the one thats comfy and the one you can afford

Hi there, I'll go with the Canon PowerShot S3 IS or Canon PowerShot SD700 IS Digital ELPH, both of them good cameras, if you have the budget go with the PowerShot, has a really great lens and the definition is superb...

Good luck...

happy shutting…

If you can afford it then go for a Canon of some description :) The models posted by lazha would be good cameras to go with.

The best idea is to get a list of cameras and go to Jessops or somewhere similar and have a look at them and see if you get on with them well enough to buy them.

I would vote for canon too.
they have great cameras.

I don't actually own one yet :) but I have friends who do and they r great cameras.
