Can anyone recommend any good hiking areas or national parks in Thailand down by Krabi, Phuket and other islands? We are also going to Bangkok.

Hi there,
Haven't been to Khoa Sok, but it's meant to be amazing there, it's near Phuket I guess, few hours via mini-bus maybe. The Erwan NP in Kanchanaburi contains some of the most spectacular waterfalls in Thailand, or so I've been told. Haven't been yet, will be there next week so can let you know then. There is one in Phuket, it houses the Gibbon Rehabilitation centre, don't recall name but it's pretty nice there. There's one near Bangkok, again, forgotten name but it has the setting of the laggon from the Leo Decap movie The Beach, my brother went there, pics look cool. Going there in about 12 days. This probably didn't help that much as I've forgotten all the bloody names, but from the descriptions, you'll be able to find them with wease. I'm assuming you have the Thai Lonely Planet guide which contains and describes all NP's in the whole of Thailand, marine parks also.

That is good info. We have a few books but we do not have the Lonely Planet one so I will check that out. You will have to let me know what you think after you go!
