gd_mommy has indicated that this thread is about Canada

Hello All, I had posted earlier about tips for visiting Niagara Falls in summer. We are planning to stay overnight, preferably on the Canada side and visit the Falls. On my web search the hotels seem to be a little pricey Approx $150.oo USD. Does anybody have any idea about good 3 star hotels, motels or B&B's where we can stay overnight with kids. Or if someone has any website suggestions for search. Thanks in advance.

Hello all, I am just requesting some information and not advertising for any products. Its very surprising that my post has been reported as a spam by some very respected & concerned member of this site. If the message content was inappropriate the perosn should have just pointed in the right direction instead of reporting it. This is very dissappointing. Isn't this forum about sharing from experiences of fellow travllers?
I am not here to start any dispute but am saddened that instead of helping people act this way.

Our apologies for the confusion. Yes, your thread was flagged as "spam", but not for any promotional reasons. Somehow, your thread was posted twice and this one was flagged as "spam" because it was a duplicate. When a member flags a post, there is a drop-down menu with the choices of promotional, duplicate or inflammatory. Yours was listed as a duplicate, and indeed it was. Double posting (from my own experience) seems to happen when someone clicks "submit" a second time because of a slow page loading. I have deleted the duplicate and left this one so you would understand what happened. As you see, I have also removed the "spam" flag.

As for your question, I'm afraid I can be of no help. But, I'm sure other members will be able to help you. ;)

Hi,

Unfortunately, the hotels in Niagara Falls on the Canada side, do tend to raise their prices in the summer and especially on long weekends. Travel agent friends have told me that some places even double their rates. There are a few good basic motels to be had on Lundy's Lane which is a short drive from the downtown area of the falls. Actually this street is just packed with various hotels/motels and restaurants. I used the link below when travelling there last year and we stayed at a 2 star motel which was small and clean but very, very basic. I think we found something for about $85.00 CAD a night on a long weekend which was a steal for Niagara Falls.

Hope that helps!

Hi there --

Assuming you have a car, here are a couple of other suggestions:

1) Stay in St. Catharines rather than Niagara Falls. It is about 20 to 30 minutes drive from the main Niagara Falls attractions but the accommodation is likely less expensive. There are accommodation options listed on the city's Web site --
http://www.st.catharines.com/tourism/accommodations.asp -- along with information about area events.

2) Bed and Breakfast -- there are lots in the Niagara Region. Again, if you don't mind driving a bit to get to the sights at Niagara Falls, you may find them less expensive. For exmample, there are several within a 30 to 40 minute drive in towns like Beamsville, Vineland and Jordan. Use the search function at http://www.bbcanada.com/on.cfm to see if you can find something in your range.

Hope that helps. Have fun and remember to pick up some delicous Niagara peaches (or other produce) while you're in the region!
