on top of those suggestions i'd encourage you to visit the QVB (queen victoria building) if you like shopping and visiting an architectural masterpiece! Also Hyde Park and the botanic gardens. Whilst in that area the Art GAllery of NSW is really great too. Thats free but if youd like to see any additional exhibitions you will have to pay to see them. A suggestion for the Harbour Bridge...if you arent so keen on spending money for the bridge climb you can go up the top of one of the four pylons which is heaps cheaper than walking accross it! HEres the website not as spectacular but itll still be a great view etc at a fraction of the cost!
Try not to get "caught out" at the mountains with its weather. I recently went there with my boyfriend for a visit and we went and it was cold and raining anf foggy and we hardly got to see the 3 sisters or the beautiful views! WHich was ok seeings we've seen it b4 but for tourists its nearly a wasted trip.
Hope that helps!

oh, Darling Harbour is my favorite!! Lots of restaurant, shops, and there's a imax theatre nearby. So, i loved spending time in Darling Harbour.
Also, the Aquarium is terrific.
Taronga Zoo as well :)

In addition to the sights suggested, I also quite enjoyed my visit to the Sydney Aquarium, pretty cool. Also, I love Palm Beach, so if you like a quiet, gorgeous beach where you can relax and have some private time, don't miss it!

By car, it's about 45 mins to an hour - more if the traffic is bad. But it should make for quite an enjoyable drive anyway, because along the way the sights are pretty interesting.

By bus, I believe you can take 190.

Narrabeen Beach is also lovely and quiet.

i live in the Blue Mountains and for tourists the best thing is to catch the train up to Katoomba and stay the hostels or hotels there. Everything you can walk to from the station and you will waste alot of money if you get a coach from the city. Most of the tourist things and actvities in the mountain are focused in katoomba. Blue Mountains is always sunny and nver cloudy, though the further west in the mountains you travel it gets a bit chilli, but that is chilli in oz standards which is like 15 degrees celcius.

Also take the ferry from the city to manly, pancakes is the rocks is the best, jet boating in either darling harbour or circular quay are good fun..

Oh and wine tasting in the Hunter Valley is a great free day out!!! Beautiful weather, great wine too. Best to hire a car and drive up with a group of people if you can, about 2hrs north from the city.

basically you wont run out of things to do.... luna park is pretty fun too.

Wow, all those great suggestions reminds me how lucky i am to live here!!
I would spend a few days AT LEAST in the Blue Mtns as there are heaps of things to do there. Leura township is beautiful and has great interesting shops, you can do a really wonderful walk from Leura to Katoomba with amazing views and waterfalls.
You can also do canyoning, abseiling, mountain biking and other stuff there which is awesome.
If you like bushwalking, you will never leave! If you can appreciate nature, you will be awestruck by the views. If you like birds, you will be in heaven. Lots of art, music and cultural stuff going on too.
The weather is very different according to the seasons.
Visit Jenolan Caves for a day too, about an hour from Katoomba I think, lots of tours going there. The caves are millions of years old and really exciting and inspiring. Take a warm jacket!
The only other thing I can add is that Manly Aquarium is rather disappointing. I go all the time with my niece cause I can get in free but its nothing on the one at Darling Harbour- that one is brilliant!
