Travel Forums Europe How to choose hotels in Edinburgh online?

Hi all,
I'm going to Edinburgh by myself this august, I know that there're two websites can find hotels and book rooms: mappy and viamichelin.
I use mappy often, but never viamichelin.
However viamichelin can find hotels near to the train station or center ville, it displays the price also, but I never use it, is it reliable? which one is better for booking hotel?

one more question about viamichelin is that it shows only the famous hotels not the small but comfortble ones?
Or do you have any suggestions for hotels for youth?

no one uses mappy or viamichelin???
no one has any suggestion??
or which site do you use most often to book hotels then??

sorry, so many questions, it's the first time that I plan my own voyage...

Hi there

I have never used said websites, but must adise that if you are plannin to come here in August its the highest tourist season with the festival starting soon. So either book very soon or expect very high prices.

Try contacting the hostels direct - Castle rock hostel, Princes Street East and West Hostels, Caledonian Hostel, Royal Mile Backpackers, are just a few of the many....

Thank you
So it seems no much time left to choose..
I have to book as soon as possible...

But I've checked all the hotels you mentioned except royal mile, others are not in the central ville...however my budget is not enough for royal mile..

I've found one "thistle edinburgh" on "", it's not far from central ville, how is it??

If you're stuck check out UNIXTRA. They offer accommodation in the University halls at cheap prices.
