Amy123 has indicated that this thread is about Malaysia

Hi there
My fiance and I are trying to plan a honeymoon to Malaysia. We have never been and are looking for a beach chalet that is not too expensive and is somewhere that will allow us to have a little bit of adventure as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Langkawi is the home of Malaysia's finest beaches in my opinion, there are a number of hotels you can book out there which are very nice as well.

If you want a place that has a little more substance try looking into Penang. Penang is an island in Malaysia, but is connected by bridge to the mainland allowing a bit more ease of movement if you want that.

The most popular beach area in Penang is Batu Feringhi (My Malay spelling is very poor, but that's close) and is a pretty nice area, it has a street market in the evenings, many nice hotels, and a handfull of resteraunts and bars which are all within walking distance when you are on the main drag of Ferringhi Beach

As the previous post suggests, Langkawi and Penang are both good places to go. Penang definitely has more to see and do.

The East coast of Malaysia has some nice islands, such as Pulau Tioman, and Perhentian. Redang is nice but a bit more expensive. The islands are good for snorkelling or diving, but there's not much else to do.

you don't mention how much time you have, maybe you can split your holiday between 2 places. Enjoy!

Hi.

Penang has lots of hotels by the beach. The hotels rates there average approximately USD 60 per night per room. Check out this website: http://www.shangri-la.com/eng/hotel/index.asp?id=27

You can get the best food variations in Penang. The island is well known for food. Chalet by the beach is hard to find in Penang.

If you still want a chalet experience, you could get it in Langkawi Island.

East coast Islands (Tioman, Redang and Perhentian) are pure island experience. The sea is cleaner here.

Do a seach on those islands.

If you're here for the first time, I would recommend Penang as it will provide you with total Malaysian experience.

The only disadvantage of doing internet searches for hotels is that you generally onlyget the more expensive hotels. And its often cheaper to get a walk-in rate than if you book from overseas. For instance you can get cheaper hotels on Penang than US$60.

Why don't u go to Cherating Beach in Pahang state or Tioman Island in Pahang as well. U could have lots of choices, peace of mind, adventure and they're cheap. I worked as beach lifeguard last time. So, I kind a' know this kind of thingy. :) Have a nice honeymoon. Bye.

hi..

I would strongly recommend islands on the East part of Peninsular Malaysia, such as Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Redang, Pulau Tioman. It is much cheaper than the West part and not as commercialised and modernised as in the West part, such as in Pulau Langkawi, Pulau Pangkor. The scuba diving or snorkelling package is much cheaper here as well. That is if you are looking for a budget or not-so-expensive hotels.

If you are looking for a poshy honeymoon, I would say...go for The Datai in Langkawi or Pangkor Laut Resort, in Pangkor. Oh well...that's an option.

I haven't been to the islands in Sabah and Sarawak. But heard from my friends that the Pulau Sipadan is really a heaven on Earth.

And...If you intend to stay, sunbathing on the beach or have leisure stroll, go to Terengganu... the best beaches in Malaysia. My personal favourite hotel is Tanjong Jara, situated between Kuala Terengganu and Kuantan. Such a good place for honeymoon...

Hope it helps...Enjoy!! ;)
