can any french person / or someone who has been there give me a little bit of advice on places i should vivit when in France. i like the country side and the vineyards and the small authentic cafes. i'll definatly do a tour of Paris, but i want to see the real France and im really looking forward to this trip,i want to plan it so i get to see the beautiful country and not only the beautiful city.( i have about a month)
thank you for your advice....
Don't miss the French Riviera. The highlights are Cannes and Monte Carlo. I don't particularly fancy Nice but it is the most convenient place to arrive at in the French Riviera. You may also want to consider visiting Arles. Hope this helps.
I've been in Alsace recently. There many little amazing town and wine is very famous. I decided that Strasbourg, added to Madrid, (and spain in general)and paris are cities where I'd like to live a period of my life (unfortunately I don't speak french...!)
Antibes on the Riviera is amazing. I was there for a few weeks a while back and it is a really cute little town where Picasso once used to live.
But my favourite place in France is Carcassonne. It has the only fort in Europe to stil be inhabited.

thanks for the advice of where to go in France. im really excited about goignt o france.
can anyone give me a rough guide on what to expect cos wise.....per day?
When I went, I budgeted about 50 euros per day for accomodation, food and other stuff but that I had a rail pass, so that budget was not including travel.
You might need a bit more money in the bigger cities and a bit less for smaller places.
Arriving in Paris I will spend about 5 days there then head up to brittany Mont St Michel (1 day) then down then down to
la Rochelle-Ile de ré (2 days)Following the coast to
Rochefort (blue cheese area) (1 day)
Bordeaux (vineyard) (3days)
Carcassonne (1 full day fortress city)
Nimes (arenas 1 day)
Mougins village on the french riviera about 5 km to Cannes). or Antibes Juan les pins (2 days).
Day trip to Monaco (1 day)
Chambery (3 days ) you have to go on the Mont Blanc base camp called Nid d´aigle.
Beaume Wine area (another one) (1 day)
Strasbourg (2 days) see the european institutions
Reims (1 day) visit where the champagne come from.
Keep one day or two for the american canadian and english war cemetery in north of France.
And you are back to Paris
That´s make about 25 days so you still have 5 days to arrange around.
Have a good trip Flo
