My Girlf and I are off travelling in eight weeks and start by spending a week on each of the following:
Tahiti, Rarotonga and Fiji.
We need some help finding places to stay... ive done a cursory look on t'interweb and the only conclusions i have drawn are that Tahiti is expensive! Anyone been recently that can recommend a hostel and cheap things to do there? I need cheap as we are travelling for a year and obviously dont want to blow all our cash in the first month. Also, is it a wise idea taking a tent to the islands? ive seen some campsites but there aren't that many. Any other general help would be most appreciated.
Hi there sounds like your in the same situation as me and my boyf, i have looked everywhere for cheap accom in Tahiti without much luck- so not gonna stay there long. Cheapest i could find was £45 per night in a shed!!. Rarotonga will be much better with accom for £25-30/night. And Fiji even better about £15-20 (double rooms). Good luck. search on web for pacific island accom- i can't remember the site that i found that is good and as i am not home at the mo i can't tell you. If you still have no luck in next couple of wks send me a message and ill let you know.
Tahiti and polynesia in general is one of the most expensive area in the Pacific. I lived there a couple of years and when I arrived in London I did not considered London expensive, which should give you an idea.
Here is a website where you find Bed n breakfast and guesthouse:
All of them have email address, you have to ask them on which Pk are they. PK means papeete Km so how many km are they from papeete.
Faa´a is the airport area.
Residencial area Punaauia
If you need any more help let me know
Cheers for the help - i had a look at some of the hostels and attempted to book one but the link was down. My Girlf and i are looking for some cheap accomodation on tahiti or Moorea (camping or a dorm bed!) any suggestions? Anyone??? please help!
and the site seems to be working OK ?
Our family resort (in Fiji) has got camping areas if you are thinking of camping. Also its about 35 meters away from high tide level. costs is around £15 per person including all meals. Cheers mate.
@Yes im def interested in your campsite on fiji - sound like just what we are after. Could you message me with link or details. I guess we will need to book soon so if my girlf likes the look then we will get back to you. Cheers mate.
i also found an interesting site which lists acc on Tahiti and the French Polynesian islands... if Corrinne or anyone is interested...
Seems pretty up to date with descriptions of all the sites etc.
