Hi guys, I'm going to Singapore on business trip, but I also want to use the time to see many things there. I want to see nice places in the city after office hours and I might extend my stay if there is some nice places away from the center of city. Does Singapore have nice beaches? for just relaxing and if possible snorkeling?
And I wonder how we get to Malaysia (KL) or Thailand (probably Phuket) from Singapore? I'm talking about budget to mid-range.
Thanks in advance for any tips!
I assume from this post that it would be your first time in Singapore?
How many days have you got for Singapore? And I suggest you check with the Embassy of Malaysia and Thailand in Jakarta whether you may need a visa to go over there. I know we are ASEAN countries but better safe than sorry.. right?
From Singapore to KL and Phuket - it is a straight plane ride. For KL you have the option of a bus trip. This would be real budget rate.
Now back to Singapore:
a) nice places - you mean the Night Safari, the Bird Park and Sentosa? or did you mean the shopping malls?
b) beaches - well, white sand, hot sun, some surf? Head for Sentosa..
c) snorkeling - u got to tie up with some of these outfits... they will bring you around... but the undertow pretty strong from what I hear... so take care...
And I noticed food is NOT on your agenda...
Hear from you...
Thanks, HQ! I can say it will be my first time in Singapore after years I'll have 5-7 days in Singapore.
Nice places - Nice shopping malls and also non-shopping places... what is there in little india, china town,...? What's in the night safari?
Just in case I'll extend my stay after business is done, I sure will move to a budget hotel. Can you give me any suggestion where to stay?
Well, food is not really what I pursue, but I will of course eat... so you have reminded me.. Where are nice places to eat good food? but not the expensive ones please...
As I remember, I didn't need a visa the last time I went to Malaysia and Thailand... I'll make sure about that, thanks for reminding me.
There are 3 options to get from Singapore to KL, and they are by air, train and bus.
By air: there is Air Asia, which flies from Johor Bahru Senai Airport (Malaysia) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. About how to get from Singaport to Johor Bahru, well here is a website for it : http://www.airasia.com/english.php?f=service&p=senai
Other airlines would be Malaysia Airline System (MAS), Singapore Airlines (SIA), and loads of other low cost airlines.
As for coaches, there are several companies: NiCE (Plusliner) and others. I don't know much about this but I am certain that there are loads of companies. You might want to check out the net for that.
There is only one option with train, which is the Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. For more information about the train: www.ktmb.com.my
I believe that Indonesian passport holder would need a visa to enter Malaysia. So, I would say the same thing as HQ did, which is to check with the Malaysian embassy in Jakarta first before you leave for Singapore.
