Hey there.
I’m off travelling in September to America - New Zealand - Oz - Singapore - Thailand - Hong Kong.
I handed in my resignation at work yesterday, but don’t leave till August, which at the moment seems like a lifetime away, but hey, at least it’s done.
I am very lucky as allot of my friends have been travelling so I’ve got loads of ideas of what I want to do in Oz, New Zealand and Thailand, but Hong Kong and Singapore I haven't got a clue about. So any advice on the best places to visit would be great.
Also I think I have found the companies that I’m going to get my flight and insurance with, but as I haven’t booked anything officially yet any names or tips for cheap / good companies would also be Brilliant.
Cheers
Jodie

HELLO JODIE,
I HAVE LIVED IN HONG KONG FOR THE FIRST HALF OF MY LIFE, AND I THINK THE BEST THINGS IT HAS TO OFFER ARE SHOPPING AND FOOD.
TO GO TO THE STREET MARKETS AND BARGAIN. THE ONE THAT I LIKE MOST IN IN KUNG TONG (KOWLOON). IF YOU ARE ADVENTUROUS WITH FOOD H.K WOULD BE HEAVEN. IF YOU ARE NOT WELL, HONG KONG WOULD BE HEAVEN TOO.
THINGS YOU MUST DO IN HONG KONG.
1) ADMIRE THE AIRPORT AND THE EXPRESS TRAINS THAT GETS U IN AND OUT OF THE AIRPORT (GET AN OCTOPUS CARD ALLOW YOU TO GET ON MOST BUSES, MTR(UNDERGROUND), TRAMS, AND MINIBUS WITH ONE CARD USEFUL, I AM PRETTY SURE IT ACTS AS A PHONE CARD TOO)
2) THE PEAK, EVERYONE ONE WHO GOES TO H.K HAS TO SEE THE PEAK, GO UP IN THE EVENING AND WATCH THE SKYLIGHT OF HONG KONG. THERE IS THE PEAK RESTURANT THAT SPINS AROUND SO YOU CAN GET SURROUNDING VIEW OF H.K WITHOUT HAVING TO MOVE AN INCH. THERE BANANA SPLIT IS GREAT.
3)VISITING THE SURROUNDING ISLANDS THERE ARE SO MANY BUT A COUPLE OF THE FAMOUS ONE YOU SHOULD GO, ON WITH A BUDDIST TEMPLE AND A BIG BUDDA WHICH YOU CAN TRY OUT THE MONK'S CRUSINE. (IF YOU ARE INTERESTED REPLY BACK THEN I CAN GIVE YOU MORE DETAILS ON WHICH ISLANDS AS I ONLY KNOW THEM BY THERE CHINESE NAMES.
4) ENJOY THE NIGHTLIFE, H.K IS A CITY THAT GOES ON AND ON, MAYBE A BIT OF KARAOKE?
OTHER PLACES TO VISIT INCLUDING THE OCEAN PARK, SHIEK-O, HAPPY VALLEY, MAY BE DISNEYLAND (DON'T KNOW IF IT WOULD BE OPENED YET)
HAVE FUN!!!!

HI Jodie,

Greetings from Singapore!

Hong Kong & Singapore are similar in many ways...we are also famous for shopping (but HK offers much more as it is like the Paris of Asia) and food (SIN is more diverse as we have four major ethnic groups living in Singapore) and we 've got some quaint islands such Palua Ubin , St John island, Sentosa, etc..., which are great for visiting!

Here's one great site you can log on to visit SIngapore virtually - www.visitsingapore.com. We are a small sunny and SAFE island in Asia which allows you to spring board to other parts of Singapore

Dont worry so much ..leave your fears behind and enjoy ur RTW trip.

Oh yes, if you need someone to show yu around...drop me an email ;)

CHeers,
Joyce
