After about a three stay in Thailand, planning to spend my final week of August in the jungle. I've heard that the Taman Negara in Malaysia is preferable to Thailand. Would anyone agree with that? If so, any recommendations on organised trekking companies? Thanks.
If you wanna get away from it all...yeah i'd definitely recommend that you go to taman negara. My most memorable would be the longtail boat journey into the park HQ which, if i remember correctly, takes almost 2 hours. But it would be pure 2 hours of fresh air, million year old rainforest.
I've only been there once about 6 years ago? if you wanna get an agent to organise it, maybe you could try www.pinganchorage.com.my. They offer alot of eco-based tours in Malaysia.
I'd say go to taman negara and you will understand what nature means...(if it was still the same from 6 years ago!).
just be reminded that a road has been opened right into taman negara (kg mat daling)...so there are now two options, the other being the boat. So make sure what mode of transport is being offered to you..check it out first...you will lose all the scenic river attractions if you take the road which most people do now.my advice is it is cheaper to go on your own, rather than through an agent.
Thanks for the advice Dana.
