I stayed in a beach hut for a similar price. It was on Koh Samui, called Jah Peace. Amazing place. After a few days, everyone there is like family. Free pool, DVD's, PS2, right on the beach with a canoe you can use for free.

Leon from Guernsey, the owner, knows loads of people round there, and will take you out, show you all the best places to go.

Search Jah Peace samui on myspace and you can see pics etc and probablybook a hut.

I am planning a year long trip to Thailand and am looking for cheap beach front huts to live in....any recommendations? Do any of these huts come with a safe for your valuables?

Avullan,
Read my post on the first page. Most of the islands that you have heard of are not cheap anymore. Perhaps
Koh Phangan maybe what you are looking for. But, if I was going to spend months in a beach hut, I would look at the Krabi area. Go to any travel shop in Krabi and look at what is offered. They have many places you have never heard of and some will be in your price range. Koh Lanta may qualify. Do not expect to have a room safe in a cheap beach hut. Some don't have bathrooms!
