It's been a while since i wanted to do that, i finally have the time to do it !
I've been collecting sand for a long time now and i want it to be something i can share with others (you !). So, if you want to be involve in this collection, here's what you have to do :
You email me whenever you are planning to go somewhere fancy or even when you live next to a beach...etc and i send you a little box or two ( i usually use film-boxes ) and you fill it with the sand. You send it back to me, with the name of the beach, the town it is next to and the name of the country.
I will post in a very near future the pictures of the sand you sent and the sand i already have on a blog, on this website.
Are there any beaches or islands you are after in particular?
I sent you a pm...let me know!
Kiwwee, I'll collect the red Namib desert sand from Namibia and send it to you, just send me a pm with your postal address.
someone i know was trying to do a similar thing, except he wanted soil from every country in the world, so he could sort of have the whole planet in miniature....
cool idea. do you want a bit of australia's wonderful beaches? theres probably still some in my backpack from last summers camping trip
you should make your own map and glue soil and desert sand to the inland areas and put sand on the coast of each country. It would be tricky to get sand and soil from every country though

actually grasshopa that's what i wanted to do but when you glue the sand to something it lose all its beauty... I keep them in test tubes so you can put them in the light and see the texture.
I collect shells from everywhere I go (that has them). But recently, I also collected some sand for my shell cabinet. I can send you some sand from an island in the middle of the Mississippi River and some from the a beach on the Pacific side of Panama. I'll be sure to label them appropriately. The sand from Panama is a type of black sand.
Send a PM with your address.
That's a great idea Kiwee - PM me your address.
