i am due to fly out to Sydney in Nov. at the grand old age of 24(!) i do feel a little old reading some of the threads on the forum. is it all just gap year students and party, party, party? (not taht there is anything wrong with that but i have doen teh whole drunken student phase!)
don't get me wrong i do like a good drink(i'm welsh, how could i not!)
but i also want to experience all that australia has to offer-eg blue mountains, walking.sightseeing etc.
if anyone is of the smae frame of mind and could put me at ease i would be very grateful!
also can anyone reccommend any hostels that cater for the slightly older market?
thanks so much
Short answer: no. For the long answer, I suggest you read Is 26 too old? and Am I too old?
Ay yup mate. Im 24 and so my girlf is 25.. we embark on our Round T'world trip in roughly 5 weeks time (im soo excited!) so in short.. nope! Stop worrying and enjoy yourself....
i'll be 23 when i arrive in sydney in november and how can 24 be to old to see the world etc is still so young .
Too old...you must be joking! I'm heading out on a 12 month working visa in September and celebrating my 30th birthday on the beach in Sydney. I have booked into 'Big Hostel' in Sydney for the same reasons you have listed. It's not a party hostel although its very central and has a social aspect with a roof terrace and bbq area. Hope that helps.
Mate,i'm off to sydney 4th september for 3 months and i'll be 35 while i'm out there....although i look about 22 if i do say so myself.....lol...
have a great time you old git....
umm..my son is going to be 22 this year.....
hahaha youd have to be kidding... your justing heading into your prime!!!
this should put all the doubts about being to old to travel out of your mind....
Alot of people travel after retirement!!!!(late 40's and 50's) so no!!!! your definetely not to old
No way is it too old - I left home to go travelling when i was 28 and have just got back after celebrating my 30th in Vietnam. I met plenty of people the same age and older than me. It really doesn't matter how old you are
You guys have absolutely nothing to worry about.... 24!!! You'll not meet that many 18/19 year olds travelling.I thought they'd be loads on gap years like you said but there really arn't. I'm 20 and I'm younger than most here.I feel too young if anything! The average age starts at about 22. You'll blend in perfectly. I had a 48 year old guy on my tour round Fiji. Nobody cares about age out here, everyone mixes in with eachother,as everyone already got the same thing in common that they wanted to come travelling!
