Hi all - new member but long time viewer.

I'm currently living in Dublin and know Rich (Gelli) from another forum.

So we met up this morning - quickly found a pub somewhere (the oldest one in Dublin) and then went on the tour of the Guinness Brewery - followed by another pub somewhere.

I've just come back to drop some stuff off before heading back out for more drink - and can offer these photos:
Group Photo in the Guinness Exhibition
Signed banknote (Estonian) that now has pride of place in the Brazen Head - the oldest pub in Dublin

Been a good day so far!

Im home and its great to see Chris (see the previous post with pictures!) has joined up!!

So we had on Saturday ( l cannot comment on Friday but by all accounts it started off with beer and went down hill!!) myself, my other half Paul (not in photo!), Gretchen (Isa), Kris (Beerman), Rich (Gelli), Nikki(Rraven), Phil (Pardus), Ed (smythy), Jason (Jase007), Chris, Greg (GregW) and turning up later Chris (Gelli's friend!) And special guest apperance from Francine or Francessa depending on what you wanted to call her and she was Rich's SPECIAL friend!! Pictures lm sure will follow!! Poor girl put up with a lot!

Yes the day started well we decided to visit the Guiness Storehouse, go side tracked into the pub - official story to protect ourselves from the rain, went to the storehouse ran until we got to the Gravity bar for more Guinness, walked back down the street to another pub, then we all went our seperate ways and re-grouped at 8pm for dinner and cocktails - few surprises were to be had - Isa had TP bags full of goodies, Ed had a special DELICIOUS TP logo'd cake and Sam sent over a special bottle of Conemara Whiskey which was enjoyed by all and special salutations made to the generous overlorders!! We then walked through Dublin so Isa could get pictures of the tart with the cart! We then searched Dublin which was heaving with people due to the Ryder Cup until we found another wait for it.... PUB!! Got a seat and more alcohol was consumed!!

It was a great day and wonderful to put faces and names together!! Here's to the next TP meet up! Im sure photos will be uploaded soon - l have a few - for you to see us in full technicolour glory!!

Heather (now at home and intending to have an early night to recover!!)

Heather covered Saturday pretty well, though I will add that when she said "got side tracked into the pub - official story to protect ourselves from the rain," that, in fact, I had thought that official story was that we were, in fact, detoured to study historial dublin, specifically the "oldest" pub in Dublin, the Brazen Head, "established" in 1198. So it was kind of like going to a museum, but, you know, with beer.

(An aside on the Brazen Head being the oldest pub in Dublin. Apparently, the pub hasn't been operating since 1198. But rather, that some pub has been operating there since 1198. The current pub actually dates back to 1688, which is still pretty old).

l cannot comment on Friday but by all accounts it started off with beer and went down hill!!

Phil, Nikki, Kris, Gretchen and myself met up at the airport. After dropping off luggage at Kris' and Gretchen's hotel, we went to a pub for lunch, with plans to do something afterwards, but, somehow the pints just kept coming and we never really did wind up seeing anything in the afternoon. It was then time for dinner and drinks, and so we went to another pub. Jason showed up at the second pub, and there was more drinking. Then I left. I don't know what happened after that, but it can't have been good. ;)

I'm going to get some pictures up later this evening. I'll post when I do. Though, I don't think I have anything like Chris' picture of us at the brewery. I look drunk, but I was still pretty sober at that time. For those of you who are interested, the people in the picture are:

Back row (from left): Heather (Purdy), Nikki (Raven), Greg (GregW), Gretchen (Isa), Jason (Jase007), Chris (Bohsman - who posted the picture)
Front row (from left): Kris (Beerman), Ed (smythy), Rich (Gelli)

Pictures are up: tagged tp_meetup_dublin_2006.

In addition, some comments on Dublin and the meet up in my blog: Dublin TP Meetup 2006!

I also, I noted in looking through my pictured, recalled that a friend of Phil's showed up on Friday night. I had completely forgotten that. Gawd, I must of been jet lagged. Yes, that's what it was. Jet lag. Nothing to do with all those pints I drank, right?
