Hey Guys,

im heading to europe in December and looking at travelling to london, paris, switzerland, austria, southern germany and northen italy. How freaked out should i be about the weather. Is there particular places which just get rained in on day and night, or never see the sun for weeks on end? Also is there a big shutdown of public transport around christmas or is travel still possible? Should long train trips be avoid due to the weather?

thanks for any help

Hey aussiegirl,

We may not be living in sunshine Australia but we still know and experience the sun. Yes december is the winter season in europe but still cold doesn´t mean rainy. You can experienced very good weather, you just need a good winter coat, gloves and scarf.

Concerning transport over christmas, London is really bad No tube or buses better to be in Paris or why not doing a white christmas in the alps or the pyrenees.

Enjoy europe, and dont forget europeans are not bad people and they dont live their feet in the water

It's not the rain I'd be too concerned about (Sydney gets more rainfall than London - fact), nor is it really the cold. It's the dim, overcast days - one after another, after another, after another...
