im zoe and im going to iceland in three weeks with NOT alot of money and ALOT of interest in the country. it will be a dream to step off the plane
i want to be able to see a reasonable amount .. but realise that this country is famous for being expensive. i cant seem to find accomodation cheaper than 75 australian dollars a night if anyone wanted to help me with finding very cheap accomodation and help with travelling around the country it would bee hugely appreciated
theres a youth hostel in Rekjavik...a bit far from the center but affordable
As ColdWarSpy said, there is one hostel in Reykjavik that is moderately priced. See hostel.is for more info.
I'm not really sure you will find accomodation for under 75 australian dollars outside of Reykjavik. But there are some great camping sites around Iceland if you can handle camping...
Heimur.is has a good list of camping sites around Iceland.
You might want to look into a bus pass to get around Iceland if your not renting a car.
This is a bit too late for Zoe I guess, but I was searching the forum as I'm going to Iceland quite soon and for anyone else interested there are actually quite a lot of youth hostels in Iceland. If you go to Hostels International then there are only 3 available to book on the site, however there are about 25 or so scattered across the country that you can book if you contact the hostel directly. They've got a map with all their details here - http://www.hihostels.com/dba/cmap-IS.en.htm
