Lima is a nice city. It has the historical part that it is colonial. It is in the downtown and you can find good tours to visit it. Also you have the ancient part: Puruchuco, Huaca Pucllana (Miraflores) and Pachacamac (Lurin). Other places to visit are: The Gold Museum and the Archeological.
Well, about entretainment: casinos, discotteques, very nice restaurants, malls, artcrafts, fast food, cyber cafes, and the majority of turists are in Miraflores, a district where are located the main hotels and night attractions.
Folcklore shows: Brisas del titicaca (Please, go in group in a reliable transportation for returning also)
For nice creole food: Jose Antonio (San Isidro), Manos Morenas (Barranco) also with shows on weekends.
Malls: LarcoMar in Miraflores, Jockey PLaza in Surco.
Restaurants by the beach: Rosa Nautica and Costa Verde (international food)
Food and beverages you MUST try: ceviche (fish), arroz con pollo (chicken with rice+cilantro), tamales (from corn), papa a la huancaína, arroz con pato (rice with duck + cilantro), tacu tacu (beans and bife), sudado de pescado, etc.
Pisco sour
Fresh Fruits from here: chirimoya, mango
I have my apartment in Miraflores available from june 21 till july 9. Please, visit my site: http://mirafloresapt.place.cc/

You can be 2 days in Lima and before going for Cusco it can know the city of Arequipa (10 hours by bus) (http://www.infoperu.com/peru/eng/arequipa.html) and take a tour of 2 days for Colca Canyon and Chivay. The city of Arequipa pretty is surrounded of 3 vulcoes. A little more close to Lima is the city of Nazca (http://www.labyrinthina.com/nazca.htm)
