Travel Forums North America spanish courses in mexico?

This thread is marked as being about Mexico

I'll be leaving for Central/South America later this year, and wanted to start off with an intensive spanish course in Mexico. Looking to do something for about 2 weeks - mainly to get some basic conversational skills (I'm a complete beginner). Any suggestions on schools, types of courses etc? I've had a look on a few websites but haven't found them particularly helpful.

Thanks :)

Here are some websites where you can have a look at. These have a lot of Spanish schools listed in Mexico.

We also have a Spanish school in Mexico. Feel free to have a look at our website.

Thank you!
I'll have a look. Also found some courses organised through STA travel in various countries around SA that look quite intersting (for anyone else who might be looking at the same thing). sooo many choices...........!!

First of all where are you?

in Mexico it all depends what and where u are.

I recommend Cuernavaca City, full of good Spanish courses.
I also recommend the UNAM school for foreign students of Spanish, in Mexico City and then you have Guadalajara, and Playa del Carmen.

Besides there are lots of private classes.

good luck

Don Quijote is probably a good school but also one of the most expensive ones. They have an enrollment fee from 65 USD and also charge IVA over the course price which is 0.15% extra. This means that a 1 week course from 4 hours a day cost 322.95 USD. Dont know many other schools that charge so much.

Thanks everyone- there's loads to choose from. I did get some info from Don Quiote who were really quick in replying. The STA courses also look really good, and you get to do a homestay with a family or similar to get to practise as well. It sounds like a good way to immerse yourself in the culture.... Any one else done that and if so how did you find it?

Playa Del Carmen looks good - perhaps get in some diving, chill on the beach.......

Only 6 weeks till I leave work for good to go and play around the world! Woohoo!!!
