I will be stopping 2 nights at the chang tee hotel in ikebukuro, tokyo in october.
Ive never been before so havent really got a clue. My biggest concern is getting from narita airport to my hotel.
Where in the airport do i get on the shuttle bus from and where does the shuttle bus from the airport stop in tokyo? and if i was to get the train from the airport what is the best route and how much would it cost??
I also fancy a night in roppongi
Any info on the matter would be much appreciated
Take the Narita Express from the airport. There is a help desk nearby when you pass customs tell them you want to go to Ikebukuro, make sure and get the time and platform #. If you get confused ask the station guy on the platform.
Ikebukuro is busy and confusing so if possible get good directions or a map to the hotel, most importantly you need to use the correct station exit(east west etc) or you will be hopelessly lost. If you have time get your hotel to fax you their name and address in Japanese characters then you can show this to people if you get lost as most people wont speak english but will want to help.
Roppongi is nearby Ikebukuro, get a subway map from the airport and change money at the airport, do everything possible there the price is not much different and the hassle is waaayyy less. Personally, I think there are better places then Roppongi to get a taste of Tokyo as it is basically a foreigners ghetto with a few good western restaraunts and a lot of cheesy bars. Good place to pick up girls but there are more quality people and Japanese experiences to be found in other areas.
Enjoy you trip and PM if you need more info
