Hmmm, now that is a HARD question...

Guess I would have to say Sydney too but that might just be because I lived there for a while. And Melbourne is equally great actually. If we're just talking visited places I would say LAS VEGAS. Simply because it is too unreal to be true. What a crazy place....

daniela, read your introduction stating that you hated Sydney (or probably rather the boarding school there), so now I'm more relieved, just can't imagine not liking Sydney. Spent 5 days there 2 years ago with my boyfriend and my son and we all loved it. Would only have stayed 2 days but just had to stay another couple of days. So Sydney is very high on my priority list as well, but can't really decide ;)

That's probably the problem when you've been to quiet a lot of places, small and big cities, I think they all have something very appealing to them, you just have to look for it with an open mind :) or maybe that's just me not being able to decide, as usual

cheers

yea it took me awhile to decide too... it came down to cape town, hong kong and sydney .. and i picked sydney because its clean, you get both the city and the beach while its not too spread out like LA is ... but of course ..i still have a lot more places to travel too and maybe when im older, i will change my preference..
im still looking forward to go to LV once I turn 21...

suppose LV is Las Vegas well, guess we'd all dream of all the money we could win in the casinos, never been there myself, actually never been to USA.

loved Hong Kong as well, very interesting city, was there 7 years ago, don't know what it's like right now??

What about some very small towns at the south of Spain, like Nerja, loved that one... or Sitges south of Barcelona, have heard it's changed a lot, but when I was there in 1985 it was a very quiet city, great restaurant at the city square, good beach...

well, as I stated before, can never make up my mind, can find something good in most places..

cheers/Sole

My favorite city seems to be the one I am just leaving while traveling. As for living in, it has got to be New York perhaps because this is where I live now. I loved Las Vegas, though I am bored by gambling. It is Disney for grown ups so much to see and marvel at. All those gardens in the desert, the shows and the sheer opulence of the place. The cities I go back to are Istanbul Paris, and Rome. Australia and South Africa are on my list of places to visit.

well, until now I would have said St. Petersburg, but because I´m currently in Barcelona I´m really starting to reconsider that
I just love the old town streets and the sagrada familia is fantastic! Of course I´ve only been here a day ;) Perhaps I´ll change my mind later.
Oh, and I prefer Melbourne over Sydney (maybe because I live there and am severely biased )

San Francisco, then Seattle and San Diego.

Favourite City? Hmmm I've lived in Paris for a long time, but I wouldn't say it'd be my favourite city, after having visited Jerusalem. Bethlehem would be my favourite city primarily due to the centuries of death and life, a rebirth pattern seen within the stones and rocks, and also the serenity that comes when you don't hear a bomb or a rifle snipping around. It has an air of Blessedness, that beckons you to want to stay longer, unlike many other cities I've lived in.

Knowing a city well and liking it seem to be sort of linked together (though not always!)

So, my favorite city? Probably Lisbon, it is such a passionate and intense place, and I have so many great memories there.

Boston is wonderful too, by the way, that would have to be my second choice.
