I spent November/December 2004 in Thailand (Bangkok and the south)and January 2005 in Australia (between Brisbane and Melbourne, not Cairns). Although we had the odd heavy monsoon in the Thai south it never was a problem. The only thing I was told to watch out for in Cairns at that time of year was box jellyfish. Since I never made it that far north, that was never a concern for me...

Hi Davmol,

I live in Sydney (Some way south of Cairns) But December is one of our hotter months. I imagine that any monsoon type rains you would get in spring more around august. So although it might get hot December should be a pretty good time for Cairns. Hope you have a great trip!!

Cheers,
Whitehead
